Step 1: Creating a Basic Module

  • Add a new module. Navigate to MODULES > ADD NEW.
  • Enter the title and publish.
  • [Optional] If you would like to prevent users from enrolling and/or viewing your module content while setting-up, scroll down, and set the “Module Price Type” to closed. This can be changed back at anypoint.

Step 2: Add Lessons to the Module

  • [Do this step only once] Set the lesson and topic order. Navigate to LESSONS > LESSON OPTIONS and Sort by “Menu Order”, Sort Direction “Ascending”. Update.
  • Add the lessons. Navigate to LESSONS > ADD NEW.
  • Enter your lesson title.
  • Associate the lesson to the module. When editing the lesson, make sure to select the module to which it should be associated by selecting the module name from the “Associated Module” drop-down menu.
  • On the right hand side, you should see ATTRIBUTE box with an Order option. This is for ordering your lessons. The first lesson should have 1, the second 2, and so on until all your lessons are numbered.
  • This will make ordering them very easy.
  • Publish the lesson.
  • Repeat step 2 through 6 until all your lessons for that one module are created and associated with that module.

Step 3: Add Lesson Topics

  • Add the topics. Navigate to TOPICS > ADD NEW.
  • Enter your topic title.
  • On the right hand side, you will see an ATTRIBUTE box with an Order option. This is for ordering your topics (just like you did for lessons). The first topic should have 1, the second 2, and so on. This will order your topics under each individual lesson.
  • Scroll down, and select the lesson to which it should be associated under the “Associated Lesson” drop-down.
  • Publish the topic.
  • Repeat step 1 through 5 as needed.

Congratulations, you have set-up the ARCHITECTURE of your module!

To see the initial result of your work, navigate to MODULES, edit the module in question, and select the Permalink right below the title. You should see all the lessons listed. Click the Expand All button, and you’ll see all your topics. Next up, the quizzes!
